The time has finally arrived. Welcome to my No Man’s Sky Live Blog. I’ve tailored it to capture every moment and exploration as I explore in real-time.

I have never played No Man’s Sky before and have no idea what awaits me. There have been many overwhelmingly positive reviews and I’m excited to see what’s about to happen.

This No Man’s Sky Live Blog captures my adventure. I have little knowledge of the game’s basic premise; it involves exploring different planets and systems. However, I don’t know any specific details about what I may find on my journey.

I aim to act as a real field researcher in the game. I will document every plant, animal, and planet I find, conducting actual research for myself and for all of you.

Right now, I only know that I can choose whether to be a ‘good guy’ or a ‘bad guy.’ For this No Man’s Sky Live Blog journey, I really want to be one of the good guys. Let’s save the animals with a pacifist run! Just like my childhood hero, Maya Higa.

A few days ago, while looking for games to play on my day off, I came across No Man’s Sky. That’s when a lightbulb went off: this game practically screams field research. Right then, I decided to turn it into a series for the website. Rather than just playing it at home for fun by myself.

Since this entry kicks off the series, allow me to explain my process.

I’ll update this blog in real-time. It goes live right before my initial descent, and then I’ll post updates every hour or so. This will continue until I finish the entire playthrough, concluding this chapter of the journey… at least until next time.

I write in a role-play style—documenting everything as if I am really there, experiencing it all in real-time, and sharing the journey with all of you. I will be playing on Normal mode.

Setting the Coordinates: Preparing for My No Man’s Sky Field Research

I have landed on an unidentified planet. The most beautiful green atmosphere. There is an animal in the distance but I am paying no mind to it because it seems peaceful enough. My scanner is broken and I must fix it by gathering something called Ferrite Dust.

With no memories of how I ended up here, one can only hope I will survive. There is radiation and the environment status is hostile while my hazard protection is failing. Not looking good but there has to be a way.

Upon finding Di-Hydrogen, I realize I can fuel up my starship and make my way out of this place if time is running out.

My discoveries have found that sodium helps defend from radiation. I’m going to be okay and no longer have stress. Time to truly explore the planet, that I have renamed Comfy Chaos. Very on brand if I do say so myself! (Update from the future: This planet is in fact not comfy at all!)

After creating the analysis visor I am now free to explore everything in this planet and fully enjoy the environment. First it’s only smart that I stock up on everything I find here.

I came upon the first animal named Carataeforis that looks like an alien made love to a rhino. It has spots on it and seems to thrive in this radiation. It didn’t try to hurt me and seems to stay in the same territory, minding its own business.

All of the plants seem dull and lifeless because of the radiation. At first I thought the radiation was contained to a certain area but it seems like it’s just all around. Not sure if the next

However, it’s fascinating to me that the animals have not only survived but thrived. The Copxaea look like Spyro the dragon but blue and no wings. The beefier boys are called Nightiranae. They are incredibly strong and eat a lot but haven’t wanted to hurt me. Let’s hope it stays that way.

After spending some time exploring, I will now repair the damaged ship I found.

Upon my walk, I found hazardous flora. Be careful if you ever arrive here. This planet is not as safe as I thought. Radiation storms are severe. Almost died but luckily found a cave to hide! Going to restock on sodium to defend myself.

Almost at my ship and I saw the biggest plant I’ve seen yet, called Weednoffae. It was perhaps the most amazingly green thing on this planet. It was like a Christmas tree.

Final Analysis: Starship Repair and what awaits me in the Wanuma System?

I have finally finished repairing my ship and this seems like a great time to close my log book and bid you farewell. It seems my time on this planet has come to a close for now. Perhaps I will do a bit of exploring for the remaining few animals I have yet to find.

One thing I learned quickly is to never let your guard down. I started thinking it was a beautiful green planet. The next thing I knew all that color faded and it was a near death experience if I hadn’t found that cave. To be honest, I haven’t found it since. It’s almost like it appear out of nowhere just to save me!

Overall, I rate my near death experience 10/10. I am not exaggerating when I say .2 seconds left out in the open and I’d be in heaven. That cave will be forever in my heart.

The Wanuma system seems to have 2 other planets. I’m excited and scared at the same time to see what new adventures await me. This is like an episode of Dragon Ball Z. Stay tuned next time!
